- Transformer Selection: When selecting a 12V transformer, make sure its output wattage is at least 120% higher than the total wattage required by all connected devices, which means 2.2 times the total load wattage. For instance, if you're connecting eight 2.8-watt LED lights, you need a transformer with an output wattage of at least 49.3 watts (8 x 2.8 x 2.2 = 49.3 watts).
